High School Open House –
Recruitment Campaigns

Going to high school is a milestone for every student. For school boards in Niagara, it is a time of intense competition as there are four school boards within the same geographical area all vying for the same students. Additionally, the DSBN had a previous problem of losing grade 8 students to their competitor’s schools for grade 9. The High School Open House recruitment campaign spans all 18 high schools at the DSBN, and recruits students from across Niagara.

Knowing that high school can be like a second home for students, the 2023 High School Open House recruitment campaign employed viral marketing on the advertising content prevalent throughout Niagara by realtor Rob Golfi. His signs feature the realtor with his arms stretched wide with the tagline, “Golfi Gets it Sold!”. The Golfi ads are well known in the region and modeling the DSBN’s campaign on this effort allowed the DSBN to realize the benefits of significant word of mouth and being instantly recognizable. The campaign featured students with their arms outstretched with the tagline, “Your Home Away from Home”
